Dear SM family and friends,
Greetings to you all!
It has been decided to bring forward our decision on whether or not we should hold the SM Conference, as planned, this year, September 2020.
The reason for this is to remove one issue of uncertainty in the midst of so many other uncertainties due to the upheavals to our lives caused by the rapid spread of the destructive Coronavirus (Covid -19).
Our decision is to postpone our Conference until next year – September 20-24, 2021.
Health experts are not seeing the containment of this virus happening anytime soon. It has truly become a global pandemic affecting every country and possibly every person in every country in some way or another.
This pandemic will be contained at some stage but even if this should take place in the next few months, normalcy will take many more months to be achieved!
It is our desire that our SM family from every country of the world get the chance to attend our international SM Conference! Postponing until September next year will provide the best opportunity for this to happen!
Personally, I think the disappointment of postponing the Conference this year is offset by the huge opportunities this situation provides for mobilization. God’s people, all over the world, have significant opportunities to put God’s kingdom on display by engaging with their communities to help, calm the anxious, assist the afflicted, provide for the destitute and share the good news!
The Great Commission is not about holding Conferences, as important as these are, it is about living a life on mission with God.
In God’s good time our SM International Conference will take place and all our global family will have the opportunity to attend. Providing everyone with this opportunity is our overwhelming desire!
An excellent scripture to meditate on in this important time is Lk 12:35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning,..” May the Holy Spirit give us insight and understanding!
